The game at Rodney Parade sparked into life as the second half wore on

Matty Dolan's late penalty saw Newport County come from behind to see off Mansfield Town.

Stephen McLaughlin gave the visitors the lead midway through the second half with a sublime strike.

But Scott Twine, who had already forced Aidan Stone into a couple of saves from long range, equalised with a low strike into the left corner.

Then came late drama when Rollin Menayese was judged to have handled in the area, with Dolan slotting home.

Newport manager Mike Flynn said:

"It's a massive win because the energy they used up on Wednesday evening against Newcastle [losing on penalties in the Carabao Cup], going 1-0 down... the character of the players was second to none.

"Everything was against them... but they stuck together, Scott Twine has scored a fabulous goal and Matty Dolan's got the winner at the end."
