Tristan Abrahams' penalty against Stevenage was his seventh goal of the season.

Newport County kept up the pace at the top of League Two with a narrow win at Stevenage to remain second.

Tristan Abrahams scored rom the spot early in the first half after Liam Shephard had been tripped by Ben Coker.

Danny Newton struck the woodwork for Stevenage while County keeper Nick Townsend denied Aramide Oteh.

Brandon Cooper and Joss Labadie could have added to County's lead as they secured their first ever win at Stevenage.

County stay in second spot behind leaders Cambridge United on goal difference, while Stevenage are down to 18th in the table.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn said:

"First half I thought we were very good and just needed a bit more in the final third but then in the second half we showed our mettle because everything was thrown at us.

"It's pleasing we won, that's the most important thing. We've won another away game.

"There's only seven games gone - I'm not getting carried away."
