Newport County have not lost at Rodney Parade in League Two this season

Padraig Amond's stoppage time goal secured a dramatic win over Colchester United and maintain Newport's lead at the top of League Two.

Scott Twine had put County ahead early in the second half with a powerful strike.

Devani Brown looked to have rescued a point for Colchester with a minute remaining, netting the rebound after Kwame Poku had been denied.

But Amond pounced to seal County's fourth successive victory.

Newport manager Michael Flynn said:

"I thought we should have scored more goals. The way it went, the chances we missed you start thinking maybe it wasn't to be.

"But that's the sign of a good team, that we've got the togetherness.

"Its a very good start but not something I'm getting carried away about. There's a long way to go and we just got to keep improving."
