George Moncur put the Hatters ahead after 21 minutes when his volley beat Huddersfield goalkeeper Ben Hamer

A fine header from Ajax loanee Carel Eiting saw Huddersfield share the points with Luton at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Dutchman met Harry Toffolo's left-footed cross and sent a looping header over Luton goalkeeper Simon Sluga on the hour mark.

The Terriers had to come from behind after George Moncur's well-taken volley had given Luton a first-half lead.

Josh Koroma went close several times for the hosts but Luton hung on for a point.

Moncur was in the thick of the early action, finding Harry Cornick who struck the first shot on target with Ben Hamer making the save.

Cornick and Moncur combined again soon afterwards with the latter seeing his shot blocked with Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu unable to convert the follow-up.

But Moncur wasn't to be denied again and converted Matty Pearson's header across goal to open the scoring after 21 minutes.

Huddersfield came back into the game with Simon Sluga saving well from Koroma, who then had then ball in the net only to see it ruled out for offside.

It was more of the same in the second half as Koroma went close again and Sluga was forced into a fine save to deny Adama Diakhaby.

The Terriers made the breakthrough after 60 minutes when Eiting steadied himself before sending a well-judged header over Sluga for the equaliser.

Luton boss Nathan Jones:

"It is a good point for us. We have got four points on the road in a week and we would have taken that at the start.

"Ideally we would have loved three points, but we just ran out of steam a bit at the end.

"People are putting in massive shifts and lots of minutes and it is taking its toll. I'm delighted for George (Moncur), he has been very patient and it was an excellent goal."

Huddersfield head coach Carlos Corberan:

"Anxiety can make you play a different way, but we showed our character. The players believe in what they are doing.

"Carel Eiting is an important player for the squad, especially when we are missing (Juninho) Bacuna and (Alex) Pritchard.

"I cannot say I am happy or unhappy with a point, but what I can say is that we have totally deserved every point we have claimed in the league."
