Wrexham players celebrate following Elliott Durrell's goal

Wrexham celebrated the news of their takeover by Hollywood pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney with a hard-fought win at Hartlepool United.

Pool dominated the first half, with Luke Molyneux heading over before Tom Crawford was denied by a magnificent save from Dragons keeper Rob Lainton.

Wrexham were much improved after half-time and Elliot Durrell hammered home from Kwame Thomas' knockdown.

Tyler Magloire almost equalised but could not stab in from close range.

Wrexham's third win of the National League season sees them rise to 13th in the table, a point and a place behind Hartlepool.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates said:

"The first half we looked very, very rusty, lacking a bit of confidence.

"We just spoke to the players at half-time to relax and go and make a pass... we came out, played really well and created opportunities and scored a goal.

"After that Hartlepool were chasing the game and we saw the other side, the grit, the determination of the group and taking pride in a clean sheet."
