Stockport County 2-0 Wrexham

Stockport County moved up to fourth in the National League with a comfortable home win over Wrexham.

The Hatters took early control when Connor Jennings pulled the ball back for Richie Bennett to tap home.

Three minutes later Jordan Keane's header doubled the lead from a Macauley Southam-Hales corner.

Jordan Ponticelli had a good chance to start a Wrexham recovery but could only shoot over when one-on-one with Stockport goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe.

Wrexham fall to 12th but are just three points behind Stockport in a tight table.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates said:

"We were nowhere near good enough. First half that was the worst we've played by far this season.

"For 10 minutes in the second half we were on the front foot, showed a bit of urgency, good tempo and had a great opportunity to get ourselves back in the game and didn't take it.

"After that it became very open, throwing bodies forward trying to chase a goal down to give ourselves a chance, find a foothold in the game, but we left ourselves open at the back."
