Dundee Utd v St Johnstone in Premiership follows 12 Scottish Cup ties in being called off

St Johnstone want an SPFL investigation after their Scottish Premiership game at Dundee United was postponed less than two hours before kick-off.

Referee Colin Steven inspected the Tannadice pitch at 13:15 GMT and deemed a section to be frozen.

The game will now be played on Tuesday with a 18:30 kick-off but St Johnstone are "disappointed" by the late call.

"It's been far from ideal," said the Perth club's head of football operations Kirsten Robertson.

"With Dundee United having undersoil heating, we expected the fixture to go ahead. We now fully expect the SPFL to look into why it was such a late call off."

The postponement followed 12 Scottish Cup ties in being scrapped because of freezing conditions.

Scottish Cup ties hosted by Camelon, Formartine United, Dumbarton, Greenock Morton, Keith, Nairn and Stirling Albion were called off on Friday.

Those hosted by Partick Thistle, Ayr United, Arbroath, Buckie Thistle and Peterhead followed on Saturday.

Two games had already been switched from Saturday to Sunday in the hope that pitches will have thawed by then.

Livingston's Premiership game against Ross County will kick off at 15:00, with Sunday's game between Airdrieonians and Edinburgh City starting at 13:00.

Kelty Hearts' tie at home to Stranraer on Saturday has been switched from New Central Park to Raith Rovers' Stark's Park in Kirkcaldy with a 18:00 kick-off.

Highland League club Fraserburgh's surface passed its 08:30 GMT inspection ahead of Banks O'Dee's visit.

The first-round tie between Camelon and Brora Rangers has now been postponed six times.

Championship leaders Hearts await the winners, with their game at home to second-to Dunfermline Athletic being one of five midweek league fixtures to be postponed as a result of cup games being rearranged.

The SPFL has yet to announce new dates for that along with Morton at home to Arbroath, Raith Rovers against Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle against Queen of the South as well as Ayr United versus Alloa Athletic.
