Cambridge United have signed centre-backs Declan Drysdale and Aji Alese on loan for the rest of the season from Coventry and West Ham respectively.

Drysdale, 21, spent the first half of the season on loan at League One Gillingham, making 15 appearances.

"Declan gives us added competition and cover. He is well regarded at Coventry City," said Cambridge boss Mark Bonner.

Alese, 20, made his West Ham debut in the Carabao Cup in September and spent time on loan at Accrington last season.

"He is left sided, has good quality with the ball and is a strong athlete, which makes him a nice addition to the squad," said Bonner.

The pair will cover the loss of Harry Darling to MK Dons and Bristol City defender Robbie Cundy's return from loan to Gillingham.

The U's, who have also made two loan signings from Spurs during the transfer window, are three points clear at the top of the League Two table.
