Wrexham climbed into the play-off zone after battling to a win at National League promotion rivals Altrincham.

Kwame Thomas struck from close range to open the scoring for the visitors.

Ryan Colclough levelled with a terrific shot after the break, but Thomas headed the winner to seal victory on the night Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club.

Wrexham rose two places from ninth to seventh in the table while Altrincham dropped a spot to sixth.

The game had been switched to the home of FC United of Manchester's Broadhurst Park because of poor conditions at Altrincham.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates:

"We're massively pleased. They started better than us. We turned it over too many times.

"But we grew into it (and) scored a good goal. I thought second half they had a lot of the ball, but we played with good shape and we had the best chances.

"We are progressing well. Things are starting to fall into place. We are looking a bit sharper and a bit brighter and if one or two decisions we can't control fall our way, we'd have one or two more points on the board."
