Ayo Obileye's penalty looked to have given Queen of the South victory

Liam Boyce's 90th-minute penalty salvaged a draw for lacklustre Scottish Championship leaders Hearts at Queen of the South.

The Northern Ireland striker was hauled down by Rhys Breen before netting his 12th goal of the season.

Ayo Obileye's contentious spot-kick - after Stephen Kingsley's challenge on Isaiah Jones - had the hosts ahead at the break.

Hearts move 13 points clear at the top, with Queens up two places to seventh.

The late blow was harsh on a home side who had superbly nullified Robbie Neilson's men.

Jamie Walker forced a fine near-post save from Rowan Ferguson in the first half, but Hearts were largely bereft of cutting edge in a dismal performance.

Despite the slip-up they edge closer to the title, while Queens are now four points clear of bottom club Alloa Athletic having played a game more.

Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston: "We had a lot of good performances and worked incredibly hard. We had to defend for long periods but looked really dangerous on the break with the pace we have in wide areas. Defensively we looked solid, so it was disappointing to lose the late goal."

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson: "It wasn't a great performance of us. Although we controlled a lot of the game, our quality in the final third wasn't there. But I put that down to this surface, it's very difficult to play on. Their penalty shouldn't have been given, if anything their player puts his leg into our defender."
