Tranmere Rovers' automatic promotion hopes were also boosted by Cambridge United and Forest Green Rovers' defeats

Tranmere Rovers moved level on points with third-place Forest Green thanks to Liam Feeney's goal against Newport.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City midfielder's third goal of the season was fired in from 18 yards after seven minutes at Prenton Park.

Kaiyne Woolery's long-range effort almost sealed victory in the second half but it went agonisingly wide.

Defeat means County drop out of the play-off places, and now sit one point behind Salford in seventh.
