Daniel Johnson's sixth goal of the season gave Preston a share of the points against play-off chasing Bournemouth.
The Cherries took a deserved lead when Dominic Solanke showed good strength before sliding a pass into Arnaut Danjuma who finished calmly.
The hosts levelled after the break when Johnson latched on to Steve Cook's poor clearance, advanced on goal and slotted home.
Both teams pushed for a winner, but Solanke shot straight at home goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and Ben Whiteman saw Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic turn his shot over the crossbar.
The nature of Preston's equaliser will annoy Bournemouth boss Jonathan Woodgate as defender Cook hurried a routine clearance, gifting the ball to Johnson who ran at goal almost unchallenged and slotted home from 18 yards.
The draw, coupled with Barnsley's win over Birmingham, saw the Cherries drop out of the top six and be replaced by the Tykes.
Woodgate's men host Barnsley, who are on a run of seven successive wins, next week while Preston will look to kick-start their own unlikely bid for a play-off place when they visit bottom side Wycombe.
