Wrexham moved up to fourth in the National League as second half goals from substitutes Theo Vassell and Jordan Ponticelli secured victory over Weymouth.

Josh McQuoid went close for Weymouth in an entertaining first half but his header was saved by Christian Dibble.

Dior Angus struck the crossbar before Vassell's header from Jamie Reckord's corner gave Wrexham the lead.

Ponticelli sealed victory with a tap in for his first goal of the season.

Wrexham manager Dean Keates said:

"We were a bit lethargic in the first half. Our tempo and urgency was a little bit flat. I spoke to them at half time and we were a lot better in the second half and played on the front foot

"I think today was the game probably look at where we needed fans and a bit of an atmosphere to give us a lift.

"I said to JP [Ponticelli] this was his game to get his goal and I'm absolutely over the moon for JP."
