Rotherham were further frustrated in their bid for Championship safety as they struck the woodwork twice in a goalless draw at Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.

Matt Crooks hit the post from just six yards out in the first half before Lewis Wing was denied by the crossbar after half-time.

The draw left third-bottom Rotherham six points from safety but having played three games fewer than Coventry, a place above them.

Richard Keogh's volley was the closest the home side came to breaking the deadlock, with Huddersfield remaining eight points above the bottom three in 19th.

Keogh's well-struck volley in the first half was seen late by Rotherham goalkeeper Viktor Johansson who kept the shot out with his chest.

But it was a fortunate point as Rotherham came inches from scoring on several occasions.

Ben Wiles burst into the area from the left and pulled the ball back for Crooks, who should have scored, but hit the upright.

Wing almost caught Huddersfield goalkeeper Ryan Schofield off his line anticipating a cross, but this time the crossbar came to the home side's rescue.

Wiles missed another excellent chance in the final minutes as he was found by Wing at the far post, but missed from close range.

Rotherham now have four straight home games in eight days which will go a long way to deciding their status next season.

'We can't be happy with a point' - reaction

Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan: "It wasn't the result we wanted before the game. We wanted to turn the page from Norwich with a good result and performance and we didn't get either of those things.

"We were very concentrated on competing but didn't create anything in attack.

"We can't be happy with a point. We know we need to keep picking up points to keep our place in the Championship."

Rotherham manager Paul Warne: "We're a point closer to where we want to be. Overall I'm really proud of the group, I don't have any complaints.

"If we had taken a chance then we might have got the win. I'm never going to criticise my players, especially after a performance like that."
