Women's Super League highlights: Birmingham 1-1 Reading

Birmingham City remain in relegation trouble in the Women's Super League after drawing at home to Reading.

Ruby Mace put the hosts in front inside the opening six minutes, converting from close range after Sarah Mayling's inswinging corner nearly snuck in.

They then went agonisingly close to making it 2-0 when Bethan Roberts nearly diverted into her own net.

But, after bossing much of the second half, Reading equalised when Rachel Rowe slammed into the bottom corner.

It was no more than the Royals deserved for their possession and pressure, with the result keeping them seventh in the table.

However, Christie Murray almost won it for the hosts late on when the Scotland international's long-range effort hit the crossbar.

Birmingham stay 10th, two points above bottom club Bristol City, but having played a game fewer than the Robins.
