Euro 2020: Who made your England XI for last-16 match against Germany?
- Published
We asked you who should start for England in their last-16 match against Germany - and many of you think it is time for Phil Foden to return to the starting line-up.
The Manchester City midfielder started England's first two group games before being replaced by Bukayo Saka against the Czech Republic for the Group D decider.
Foden was the sixth most popular selection for England's first knockout match of Euro 2020.
Once again the formation will be a 4-3-3 for Gareth Southgate's team, with 60.13% of you wanting to see that. So who makes the cut? And where does Foden fit in?
Goalkeeper
There's no surprises here as Jordan Pickford was selected in 93.63% of your teams. The Everton keeper has kept three clean sheets so far at Euro 2020 and beat Sam Johnstone (3.75%) and Aaron Ramsdale (2.32%) to retain his place in the side.
Defenders
Once again it was Kyle Walker who got the nod for the right-back position (50.49%), beating Chelsea's Reece James (18.78%).
On the other side you selected Luke Shaw (50.01%) as the left-back ahead of Ben Chilwell (15.23%). Shaw started against Scotland and the Czech Republic, taking over from Kieran Trippier.
Your preferred centre-back partnership is John Stones and Harry Maguire. The pair were the expected options prior to the tournament before Maguire suffered an injury while playing for Manchester United. Stones and Maguire were the second and third most-picked players respectively.
Midfielders
Despite playing the second half against the Czech Republic, Jordan Henderson did not make your team. Instead it is Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips selected by you to start. They are joined by Jack Grealish - the Aston Villa man was the most selected player overall.
Attackers
England have only scored two goals at Euro 2020, both of which have come from your favoured selection on the left-hand side, Raheem Sterling.
Through the middle there is no change as captain Harry Kane was fifth overall in total selections.
On the right side of the attack, it was a really tight call as to who started. Arsenal's Saka was selected in the right-wing position in 0.71% more teams than Foden. But Foden was selected significantly more overall across a range of positions, so he gets the nod.
Your joint England-Germany XI
We also asked you to pick a combined England and Germany XI from both countries' squads - and here is what you came up with.
England edge the numbers, with six players to Germany's five, although their keeper Manuel Neuer was the most selected player, closely followed by Harry Kane.
Joshua Kimmich was probably the most unlucky player to miss out, losing the right-back spot to Kyle Walker by the smallest of margins.
You can still pick your England XI and your combined England-Germany XI below, but your selections won't be counted towards the result. Don't forget to share your picks on social media using #bbcfootball.
