Akin Famewo: Charlton Athletic re-sign Norwich defender on loan

Akin Famewo has made one senior appearance for Premier League club Norwich

League One club Charlton Athletic have re-signed Norwich City defender Akin Famewo on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old, who featured 22 times during a loan spell at The Valley last season, becomes the Addicks' fourth signing of the summer.

Charlton have the option to purchase Famewo permanently as part of the deal.

"He is an outstanding young defender who showed us all just how good he is when he was with us last season," boss Nigel Adkins told the club website., external

Meanwhile, Charlton right-back Adam Matthews has signed a new one-year contract.

The 29-year-old Wales international joined the south-east London club from Sunderland in the summer of 2019.

Having begun his career at Cardiff City, Matthews also spent four years at Celtic before moving to Sunderland for £2m in July 2015.

Matthews has made 58 appearances for Charlton since joining the club.
