Inverness Caledonian Thistle's unbeaten Scottish Championship start was ended away to 10-man Hamilton Academical.

The hosts made a brilliant start as an unstoppable shot from academy graduate Lewis Smith put the home side in front.

Smith then turned provider for Andy Ryan, who struck from outside the area, before Reegan Mimnaugh's mistimed challenge saw him earn a second yellow card just half an hour in.

But the league leaders were unable to reply until injury time.

Michael Gardyne was the man who found the back of the net for Inverness with a soaring strike into the top corner, but the goal came too late for Billy Dodds' side.

Inverness manager Billy Dodds: "We gave away really poor goals. We had a few chances, but we didn't do enough, we didn't bombard them.

"When you see the results at full-time, it's disappointing. There was an opportunity that's spurned."

Hamilton boss Stuart Taylor: "I'm really happy with the performance. It was tough going over an hour down to ten men, but I thought we defended extremely well."

"I'm disappointed for them to lose the goal in the last couple of minutes, but I'm also delighted for them."
