Ethan Ross gave Rovers an early lead
Raith Rovers survived an Ayr United fightback to secure a win that consolidates fourth spot in the Scottish Championship.
Midfielder Ethan Ross headed the home side ahead after 12 minutes before Dario Zanatta fired the second five minutes later.
The striker's eighth of the season looked to have won it until defender Jack Baird's drive gave Ayr hope.
Rovers are now eight games without defeat - six without a home loss.
Meanwhile, Ayr have now not beaten their hosts in five meetings and in seven visits to Stark's Park since November 2011.
