A Dom Thomas strike completed Dunfermline's comeback

Bottom club Dunfermline Athletic ended their winless start in the Scottish Championship with a comeback victory at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

As new manager John Hughes watched on before officially taking charge on Monday, the visitors fell behind to a close-range Billy Mckay strike after Michael Gardyne's shot hit the post.

Dunfermline overturned Inverness CT's dominance after the break and Lewis McCann slid in Aaron Comrie's cross before Dom Thomas found the top corner with an 18-yard strike.

Home substitute Anthony MacDonald and Scott Allardice both sent efforts wide and Lewis Jamieson had a shot effort cleared off the line.

But Dunfermline held out for a first away league win in 13 months to move within two points of Queen of the South and Greenock Morton.

Inverness' fifth Championship game without victory drops them a place to third, four points off leaders Kilmarnock.

Inverness CT first team-coach Barry Willson: "We were very good for 30-35 minutes. We said to them at half-time we need to regain control and unfortunately we didn't do it.

"We were bombarding them near the end but it was reactive after going behind - we wanted them to do that at 1=- up."

Dunfermline interim manger Greg Shields: "In the first half it was a bit edgy and scrappy. We had a chat with them at half-time - the manager came in and had a wee word as well.

"Kevin O'Hara and Lewis McCann changed the game for us - the way they pressed. It was really pleasing as it's been a long time without a win and they more than deserved that today."
