Graham Dorrans' handball was the turning point in the match at New Douglas Park

David Moyo's penalty moved Hamilton Academical up to sixth, and sent 10-man Dunfermline Athletic down to second bottom of the Scottish Championship.

The spot-kick was awarded after the Fifers' captain Graham Dorrans was sent off for handball on the goal-line.

Scott Martin could have added to the hosts' lead, his effort saved by Owain Fon Williams.

Josh Edwards had a header blocked as the depleted visitors tried to draw level.
