Inih Effiong had not scored in seven matches since 30 October

Woking striker Inih Effiong bagged a brace - his first goals in two months - as the Cards finally saw off National League bottom club Dover Athletic.

Max Kretzschmar's sixth-minute penalty put Woking ahead, only for Jake Goodman to head Dover level five minutes later against his old club.

But, after Tyreke Johnson hit the bar with a spectacular 35-yarder, Woking were back in front on 34 minutes when Kyran Lofthouse pulled back for Effiong to bundle the ball over the line from close range.

Effiong then took his second goal superbly on the hour mark to seemingly secure Woking's first win in five matches - and their first on home soil since 30 October.

There were still nervy moments when Ryan Hanson pulled one back from a corner for his second goal of the season with three minutes left, reward for a determined Dover side who have picked up just four points this season and remain on -8 following their pre-season deduction.

But it was the hosts who came closest in the dying seconds when Effiong so nearly completed a first hat-trick for the club.

Woking now go into Sunday's home derby with Aldershot 12th in the National League, while Dover's next game is at Dagenham and Redbridge.
