Wrexham moved up to third and a point off top spot in the National League with victory at Altrincham courtesy of two first half headers.

Aaron Hayden's close range header after Ben Tozer's flick down from Jordan Davies' cross put the visitors ahead.

Bryce Hosannah's header, after Jordan Ponticelli's headed effort had come back off the post, doubled their lead.

Altrincham, who are 15th, showed plenty of effort but had no end product to show.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said:

"It was an important win for us. I thought in the first half we played really well - in the second half we saw the game through.

"It's an important win, a clean sheet and two good goals.

"It's another win on our travels."
