Notts County came from behind to beat National League promotion rivals Wrexham in an enthralling contest.

Reece Hall-Johnson's spectacular strike gave Wrexham the lead after four minutes.

Kyle Wootton's penalty, after Harry Lennon was red carded for handball, saw County level six minutes later before he gave them the lead before half time.

Paul Mullin missed a penalty for Wrexham before Jayden Richardson sealed Notts County's victory.

Wrexham remain third but are now four points behind leaders Chesterfield while Notts County are up to sixth.

Hall-Johnson had given the visitors the perfect start with a thunderbolt from outside the area.

But Wootton levelled from the penalty spot after Kairo Mitchell's shot was handled on the line by Lennon, who was shown a red straight card.

Wootton rose to head home Kyle Cameron's cross past Rob Lainton to put the hosts ahead five minutes before the interval.

Wrexham were awarded a penalty early in the second half after Frank Vincent's high foot caught the heads of James Jones, but Mullin's subsequent kick was saved by Anthony Patterson.

Richardson extended the home side's lead with his header from Adam Chicksen's cross, which the assistant referee ruled had crossed the line.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said:

"I don't think it sells a true story of the game 3-1. I thought we were the better team and even with 10 men at times we had good spells.

"The lads gave us a lot today and I'm disappointed not to come away with a point.

"That handball [Harry Lennon] was not intentional. He's on the line, it's hit his arm so it's a penalty but it's not a sending off.

"[County's third goal} didn't look over the line to me. The linesman's got be 100% sure to give that decision and I asked him to look me in the eye and tell me he was 100% sure and I don't think he could."
