Torquay United 1-0 Wrexham: Asa Hall header earns Gulls victory

  • Published

Asa Hall's eighth minute header was enough to secure Torquay United victory over Wrexham in the National League.

Torquay captain Hall rose highest at the back post to meet Armani Little's curling free-kick and beat Wrexham goalkeeper Rob Lainton.

Wrexham captain Luke Young almost levelled straight after the restart but Shaun MacDonald was equal to the effort.

Victory moves Torquay up to 11th, while Wrexham drop a place to seventh.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: "It was the type of game we thought it would be; windy, difficult pitch and the set play has separated the two teams on the day.

"We couldn't find that moment to get back in the game.

"I think if we'd have got one we would have gone on to win the game, but we couldn't find that quality in our play to unlock the door."
