Burton Albion have re-signed defender Sam Hughes from Premier League neighbours Leicester City, as well as making three deadline day loan swoops.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink re-signed midfielder Harry Chapman from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

He then succeeded with a late move for Bournemouth striker Christian Saydee for the rest of the season.

Manchester United's 21-year-old Czech keeper Matej Kovar then also completed a late loan move.

Kovar, who has also signed a new contract with United, has been at Old Trafford since 2018 and spent last season on loan at Swindon.

Hughes, 24, signed by the Foxes for a reported £125,000 fee from non-league Chester in 2017, was already back with Burton on his second loan spell.

He has made four first-team appearances for the Brewers since returning this month from a year-long ACL injury.

Chapman, 24, also spent the first half of the season on loan with Burton, making 15 appearances.

He was with fellow League One side Shrewsbury Town last season, turning out 24 times.
