Two quickfire goals from Kilmarnock blew Raith Rovers away as the Ayrshire side moved level on points with Arbroath at the top of the Scottish Championship.

Stephen McGinn and Kyle Lafferty scored in the opening 12 minutes.

Lafferty made it five goals in five league games after the break and Killie only trail Arbroath on goal difference.

Rovers made changes in the second half and improved but are now winless in nine league matches.

They remain a point behind third-placed Inverness Caledonian Thistle. However, Partick Thistle are a point off fourth and have four games in hand.

Killie got off to the perfect start. Chris Burke's corner was met by Lafferty and although his header came back off the bar, McGinn was there for the rebound.

Lafferty's shot appeared to take a slight deflection off Christophe Berra as Rovers fell further behind.

But for Zach Hemming in the Killie goal, Rovers would have reduced the deficit before Lafferty made sure of Kilmarnock's victory by meeting a lovely ball in from Fraser Murray.
