Newport County boosted their League Two play-off hopes courtesy of a 90th-minute own goal by Dion Conroy.

Swindon defender Conroy could only turn the ball into his own net after Finn Azaz went round keeper Joe Wollacott.

Swindon had the better chances until then, with Jack Payne and Jonny Williams forcing saves from Newport keeper Joe Day.

Louie Barry fired into the side netting and Josh Davison found the target only for the offside flag to go up.

Substitute Dom Telford saw the Exiles' one effort of note saved before the dramatic climax, which saw Newport climb back into the top seven as they halted a three-game winless run.

Swindon drop to 11th after their sequence without a win stretched to three matches.

Newport manager James Rowberry:

"The lads were terrific against a very strong possession-based team.

"At times we could have done a bit better today but in general I was pleased with the performance.

"The wind was really strong first half and when we were trying to get out it was really hard. Second half it was similar for them. It was a game of two halves in many ways.

"I spoke to the lads about it being about the collective. It's about the 26 of us, the staff, the football club and the fans. There's a real good feel to the place at the minute."
