Liverpool can still win four trophies, while Manchester City are in the hunt for three

Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City means we are now a step closer to knowing who can win what - and where each team could make history this season.

The 3-2 victory by Jurgen Klopp's side on Saturday means an unprecedented quadruple remains on - as they can still add the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League to the Carabao Cup they won in February.

For City, a Treble is now off the table - but they can still become the third English club to complete a double of the top-flight title and Europe's biggest prize.

The race for the Premier League remains tight - City lead Liverpool by a point, and both sides have seven games left.

BBC Sport assesses where the chase for the trophies could be won and lost.

Having won the Carabao Cup for the past four seasons, City's hold on the trophy was ended earlier this term by West Ham.

It gave Liverpool the opportunity to capitalise, winning the first silverware of the campaign with a penalty shootout victory over Chelsea.

The pair served up another thrilling encounter at Wembley on Saturday 16 April, with Liverpool edging victory.

It appeared as though Liverpool were going to win emphatically, as they surged into a 3-0 half-time lead.

But City hit back in the second half, falling just short despite Jack Grealish's goal and an injury-time finish from Bernardo Silva.

Liverpool will be aiming to win their first FA Cup since 2006 when they face either Chelsea or Crystal Palace in the final on 14 May.

Manchester City have won the Premier League in three of the past four seasons, with Liverpool lifting the trophy on the other occasion

After the 2-2 draw between the two sides at Etihad Stadium on Sunday 10 April, both City and Liverpool have seven league games remaining, both with four of those at home.

With Liverpool still needing to play Manchester United, Merseyside rivals Everton and Champions League-chasing Arsenal, the fixture list looks more favourable for City.

As it stands, of the sides City have left to play, only West Ham and Wolves are currently in the top eight.

There is also the Steven Gerrard factor to consider. Although the former Liverpool captain never managed to win the Premier League himself, he can have a significant say in this title race.

The Reds have a meeting at Villa Park with their old captain, now Aston Villa's manager, on 10 May, while City end the season at home against them on 22 May.

As a reminder of just how little margin for error there might be, take a look at the 2018-19 Premier League season. City pipped Liverpool to the title by a single point on the final day - after both sides had won their last eight games.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: "They don't drop many points, we know that. We have to concentrate on ourselves and win as many games as possible. If they slip up, we have to be there right behind them."

Champions League

The trophy that Manchester City crave the most but have never won is the Champions League, with Guardiola's side losing 1-0 to Chelsea in last year's final.

Liverpool have won it an impressive six times, the most recent of which was under Klopp's management in 2018-19.

If either side win the Premier League and then add Europe's big prize afterwards, they will follow in the footsteps of the Reds sides of 1976-77 and 1983-84 and the Manchester United teams of 1998-99 (the year of their treble) and 2007-08.

Both sides are through to the semi-finals, with Liverpool facing Spanish side Villarreal and City taking on 13-time winners Real Madrid, also from La Liga.

The two-legged semi-finals will take place on 26/27 April and 3/4 May.

If they reach their second successive final, City might set up a date with destiny on 28 May... against Liverpool in Paris.

There are plenty of unknowns between now and then, but one thing is for sure - we're gearing up for a thrilling end to the season.
