Oli Shaw's goal ended Raith Rovers' outside hopes of a play-off place

Raith Rovers' outside hopes of a Scottish Premiership promotion play-off spot ended after a draw at home to second-tier champions Kilmarnock.

The Kirkcaldy side needed a victory combined with a defeat for Partick Thistle by Ayr United and an eight-goal swing to overtake the Glasgow side.

Aidan Connolly fired the fifth-placed Kirkcaldy side into a deserved lead after half an hour.

But Oli Shaw's fine chipped finish secured a point for the visitors.

Connolly was denied a late winner with an 18-yard drive off the crossbar.

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes: "The players deserved to celebrate - it was a special night the other night at Rugby Park and it was a wee bit of a Disney finish, it was absolutely dramatic.

"We gave the layers a few days off and they obviously celebrated to the maximum and I think we've got four hamstrings and a calf injury after that tonight, but we still showed that competitive side and it was a far better performance in the second half."
