Rhys McCabe scores Airdrie's 87th-minute equaliser from the spot

Rhys McCabe slotted a late penalty for Airdrieonians to deny Queen's Park a first-leg victory in the Scottish Championship play-off final.

A tepid tie at Firhill burst to life when Simon Murray give the hosts the lead midway through the second half, curling a shot into the bottom corner.

Airdrie were inches from equalising when Dylan Easton headed wide.

But McCabe converted on 87 minutes after Jonathan Afolabi was upended by Queen's goalkeeper Calum Ferrie.

The League 1 sides meet in the second leg at Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium on Sunday with a place in the second tier at stake.
