Hibs sign Aiden McGeady on one-year deal & French forward Elie Youan on loan

Aiden McGeady has signed a one-year deal with Hibernian, reuniting him with his former Sunderland boss Lee Johnson.

Hibs have also added French forward Elie Youan on loan from Swiss side St Gallen with an option to buy.

McGeady, 36, was released at the end of the last season following five years at the Stadium of Light.

Johnson says the former Celtic winger, who has 93 caps for the Republic of Ireland 93, brings "skill, experience and gravitas" to Easter Road.

"Aiden is a top player," Johnson told the Hibs website..

"We will also look to utilise Aiden's fantastic leadership qualities to help guide and get the best out of our young forward players."

Youan, 23, arrives on loan for the season having netted 12 goals in 53 appearances for St Gallen.

The former France Under-20 international came through the ranks at Nantes, playing six times in Ligue 1, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Belgian top-flight club Mechelen.

"We are excited to welcome Elie to Hibs and we are glad he chose us out of numerous clubs who were interested in him," said Johnson.

"Elie is a very versatile forward player with excellent speed and dynamism."

McGeady and Youan take Hibs' summer signings tally to eight, joining David Marshall, Nohan Kenneh, Rocky Bushiri, Lewis Miller, Momodou Bojang and Jair Tavares.
