Albert Adomah's winner against Watford was his first goal of the season

Substitute Albert Adomah scored the winner for Queens Park Rangers to end Watford's unbeaten start in the Championship.

The Ghanaian took just nine minutes to seal the entertaining win at Vicarage Road, crashing the ball home off the woodwork.

Ilias Chair had given QPR a deserved lead with a fortuitous finish from 30 yards, which took a huge deflection off Francisco Sierralta on the way to finding the bottom corner.

Ken Sema restored parity with a calm finish after battling through Rangers' defence, only for Chris Willock to finish a fine team move to put QPR ahead once more.

Watford striker Joao Pedro hit the bar with a 40-yard effort and eventually equalised with a powerful low finish before Adomah sealed QPR's second win of the season.

The Hornets did have the ball in the back of the net late on, but Edo Kayembe's effort and what proved their last chance of rescuing a draw was ruled out for offside in the build-up.

In a game that would have seen Watford go top with victory, forward Ismaila Sarr returned from injury to start for the first time since a £25m move to Aston Villa collapsed earlier in the week, despite both clubs agreeing to the deal.

Watford started the day second in the table, but Mick Beale's QPR side worked the hosts hard from the outset and were worthy of their lead when Chair's heavily-deflected effort beat keeper Daniel Bachmann.

Pedro, like Sarr, was back after injury and linked up with Sema for Watford's response before the hosts lost Rey Manaj to injury and Willock made it 2-1 for QPR after Andre Dozzell started a slick counter-attack.

While the excellent Pedro was denied by the woodwork in the first half, the Brazilian linked up with Yaser Asprilla to make it 2-2.

Willock then tested the home keeper before Adomah clinched victory with his first goal of the season nine minutes after coming off the bench.
