Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Doncaster Rovers

George Miller scored a late equaliser at Crewe as new Doncaster boss Danny Schofield drew his first game in charge.

Courtney Baker-Richardson's first-half header handed the Alex a first-half lead, which goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo preserved with his penalty save from Miller on the stroke of half-time. But Rovers frontman Miller made amends when he broke clear in the 77th-minute to secure a share of the spoils.

Alex Morris's out-of-form Alex were glad of the positive start when leading scorer Baker-Richardson planted a firm header over Jonathan Mitchell from Tariq Uwakwe's 14th-minute cross.

Crewe were close to adding to their lead when Dan Agyei forced Mitchell to tip over his angled drive before Baker-Richardson directed a header wide.

Doncaster came out of their shell and Kyle Knoyle lifted a difficult chance over, while Harrison Biggins was thwarted by a fine reaction save from Okonkwo.

Baker-Richardson blotted his copybook when his raised hand was spotted by referee Carl Brook, who pointed to the spot on 45 minutes.

But Okonkwo dived to parry the penalty from Miller, whose follow-up header went over.

After the restart, Mitchell pushed over Rio Adebisi's fierce angled drive and scrambled away efforts from Agyei and Joel Tabiner as Crewe pressed.

Clayton curled a free-kick wide as Rovers sought an equaliser and Miller grabbed it when he was put clear by Biggins to threaded past the onrushing Okonkwo.
