Paul Mullin was the National League's top scorer with 32 goals last season after joining from Cambridge

Paul Mullin's overhead kick set the stage as Wrexham cruised to a 4-0 win over Altrincham at the Racecourse.

Mullin opened the scoring in acrobatic style just after the half hour mark before setting up Ollie Palmer for Wrexham's second three minutes later.

Palmer got his second midway through the second half, turning in the box before firing into the bottom corner.

James Jones rounded off the scoring as Wrexham stay second in the National League. Altrincham drop down to 17th.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales: "I'm so pleased today because we looked dangerous but were also solid defensively.

"Some games we haven't got the balance right but we were solid out of possession today and that gave us the platform to get a result.

"It's a great finish from Paul Mullin, he can score an array of goals, he had a difficult day Tuesday but he was right at his sharpest today."
