Arbroath 0-2 Ayr United: Ben Dempsey & Jayden Mitchell-Lawson score in win

  • Published

Ayr United moved three points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship after beating struggling Arbroath.

Ben Dempsey's penalty kick, after Colin Hamilton fouled substitute Jayden Mitchell-Lawson, gave them the lead.

And Mitchell-Lawson got a goal himself late on when he twisted and turned in the box before firing into the corner for his first Ayr goal.

Bobby Linn came closest for Arbroath when his curling shot from 25 yards thumped the top of the post early on.

Lee Bullen's visitors take on Morton next as they dream of a return to the top flight for the first time in 44 years.
