Notts County 0-0 Yeovil Town: Record non-league crowd of 16,511 watch Magpies stalemate

Notts County broke the attendance record for a regular-season non-league match but lost top spot in the National League as they were held to a stalemate by Yeovil Town.
Meadow Lane was packed with 16,511 supporters, taking advantage of vastly discounted ticket prices, however all but the 452 travelling fans were left frustrated as a superb defensive display from the Glovers ensured a draw, allowing Wrexham to go top courtesy of their 2-0 win over Aldershot.
Though they failed to score at home for the first time since April 2021 the Magpies smashed the attendance record they set in November 2021, when 12,843 people watched them beat Solihull Moors.
The crowd was the third largest of the day in British football, behind only Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City, while it also dwarfed the turnout for last weekend's Premier League fixture between Bournemouth and Everton and eclipsed the average home attendance of 10 Championship sides.
The fans saw Glovers keeper Grant Smith called into early action to deny Macaulay Langstaff and Cedwyn Scott, and he foiled Adam Chicksen twice in quick succession before the break - the second with a flying fingertip save.
Ruben Rodrigues stung Smith's palms shortly before the turnaround but Town almost stunned their hosts with a flick from Alex Fisher after the interval.
Rodrigues flashed a strike narrowly over the bar and sub Quevin Castro saw a strike deflect past the upright, while Smith thwarted Matt Palmer midway through the second period.
The onslaught continued as Aden Baldwin sent an audacious effort inches wide and Kyle Cameron saw a header from a Rodrigues corner cleared off the line by Matt Worthington, before Chicksen nodded over in a frantic finale.
While it was a non-league record crowd, the club's record attendance remains the 47,310 who watched the Magpies host York City in the FA Cup in 1955.
However, it was the highest attendance at Meadow Lane since 17,615 watched County against Coventry City in the League Two play-off semi-final in 2018.
