David McGoldrick's late goal completed a second-half turnaround as Derby County beat Newport County in a captivating FA Cup second-round tie.
Priestley Farquharson's header gave League Two Newport a deserved lead at the interval.
Derby were much improved after the break and Louie Sibley's sublime curling effort brought them level.
Sibley turned provider with a brilliant cross for McGoldrick to head home the winner with two minutes remaining.
Newport have become renowned giant-killers in recent years, with notable wins against Leeds, Leicester and Middlesbrough in the competition.
Both sides were unchanged from their last league outings, and the hosts quickly settled into the game against their League One opponents.
After an evenly matched opening 10 minutes, Aaron Lewis' dangerous delivery into the area was headed away by Derby's Eiran Cashin before a counter-attack ended with Scot Bennett firing over from 18 yards.
When Derby did venture forward, the final ball let them down and they created little.
Newport were looking the more likely side to break the deadlock, and they went ahead four minutes before half-time.
Lewis' free-kick was met by defender Farquharson, who outjumped the Derby defence to power a header beyond Joe Wildsmith.
But Derby were a different proposition after the break, with McGoldrick firing over the crossbar from close range.
Tom Barkhuizen's teasing cross caused problems, but former Cardiff striker James Collins mishit his effort before McGoldrick forced a save from Joe Day.
Derby levelled when Sibley cut inside from the left and produced a curling effort which nestled in the corner of the net.
Paul Warne's team very nearly doubled their lead soon after when a Newport clearance rebounded off McGoldrick, with Day reacting quickly to block on the goal-line with his foot.
By now it was an end-to-end contest and Wildsmith denied Will Evans and then Cameron Norman before Barkhuizen fired inches wide for the visitors.
But it was Derby who sealed victory late on with the experienced McGoldrick heading home Sibley's excellent cross for his seventh goal of the season.
Newport County manager Graham Coughlan told BBC Sport Wales:
"Obviously it's natural disappointment - opportunity missed, chances galore. We should have, could have, but that doesn't win football games.
"Putting the ball in the back of the net and keeping it out at the other end wins football games and we didn't do that today.
"Naturally the lads are disappointed, which is understandable. They've pushed a really top club - a top team - really, really hard.
"I thought their work-rate, attitude and commitment was absolutely immense.
"We've fallen asleep at key moments in the game, made a couple of errors in key moments and they've gone against us."
