Chippenham's first-ever appearance in the FA Cup second round ended with a comprehensive defeat at Burton.
The League One strugglers cruised past a side 70 places below them in the ladder to take their place in Monday's third-round draw.
Jonny Smith, Deji Oshilaja and Bobby Kamwa made it 3-0 before Harry Parsons pulled one back for the Bluebirds.
Sam Winnall added a late brace and Oshilaja hit the sixth for a scoreline which was a little harsh on the visitors.
Burton skipper John Brayford returned to action after more than a month out with a calf injury but Town were without Joe Hanks, who scored the goal which knocked Lincoln City out in the first round.
In-form Brewers forward Victor Adeboyejo saw an early goal ruled out for offside but Smith fired home the opener just before the half-hour mark.
Kamwa's cross was laid off by Adeboyejo and Smith dropped his shoulder before picking his spot high to keeper Will Henry's right.
An unmarked Adeboyejo headed a glorious chance over, Davis Keillor-Dunn lashed off-target, and Oshilaja saw a fine header turned around the post by the flying Henry.
The pressure told just before the interval as Oshilaja raced along the touchline before sending Henry to ground and firing home from an acute angle.
Adeboyejo saw another goal disallowed for offside but Kamwa turned in Tom Hamer's cross to make it 3-0 after half-time.
Parsons pulled one back on the hour after some poor defending, but substitute Winnall added a late double, converting a fine pass from Joe Dodoo and then sliding the ball home from a low Hamer cross.
There was still time for Oshilaja to slot in the sixth from the edge of the area as Burton took their place in the third-round draw.
Burton manager Dino Maamria told BBC Radio Derby:
"I'd have liked to be six-up in the first half because I thought our first half was excellent. I was disappointed the third didn't count as Victor was onside.
"Our preparation for this game was excellent. We're playing against a team from lower down, that beat Lincoln before. I went to watch them, we did our homework on every player in the squad, we shared it with our players and I thought our players equipped themselves really well.
"Deji Oshilaja was outstanding, not just his goals, he was the whole week, and to have those players in your camp, you know you're in a good place.
"(Chippenham) showed glimpses in the second half of what they can do, I said in the week they can play if you give them time and space. We missed a few chances but they caused us a few problems in the second half, so credit to them as well."
Chippenham boss Gary Horgan told BBC Radio Wiltshire:
"I am always disappointed when we've lost a game, irrespective of the opposition.
"I am really proud of the second-half performance. I thought we were the better side for the first 15 minutes of the second half, we created a couple of good openings, but as is always likely to happen we got caught on the counter. Fair play to Burton, who were absolutely clinical.
"I am really proud but tinged with disappointment. Maybe we were a bit too passive first half. That wasn't necessarily the plan.
"When you take the meat from the bones we've just been beaten by a League One side, at their ground, and for 25 minutes we were more than in it. And in the second half we were the better side for 15 or 20."
