Greenock Morton slipped into fourth in the Scottish Championship after sharing the points with Arbroath in an end-to-end encounter at Gayfield.
Lewis McGrattan shot the visitors into the lead just before half-time, in what was an extremely open game.
Moments after the interval, David Gold smashed Arbroath back on level terms.
Both sides had opportunities to snatch a victory, but neither were able to carve out the golden chance.
Dougie Imrie's side are now unbeaten in their last 10 league games, while Dick Campbell's men remain rooted in ninth.
Despite Arbroath's comfort in the first-half, Morton struck the early blow before heading in for some half-time warmth when McGrattan's powerful effort left Derek Gaston stumped.
But Morton goalkeeper Brian Schwake was also beaten when Gold blazed his strike high into the net to emphatically earn his side a point.
Arbroath assistant Ian Campbell: "I think a draw is a fair result. All credit to the attitude of our players, it was first class, but can we play a lot better? Absolutely, almost certainly.
"I wouldn't say we are happy but a draw overall is fair, but if you look at objective chances, no doubt about it we had four walk-in chances and we missed them."
Greenock Morton manager Dougie Imrie: "It's a good point and I'd of taken a point before the game but on the general game itself, I thought first half we were well in control and could have had a couple of more goals.
"We are happy to be where we are, the run has been excellent but that is down the players, they are the ones pulling on the jersey and performing how they are on the park."
