Dundee ended Ayr United's six-game unbeaten home run to leapfrog the hosts at the top of the Scottish Championship despite playing 70 minutes with 10 men.

Luke McCowan scored both goals, which came after home defender David Bangala followed Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan in being sent off just after the hour mark.

McCowan fired into the bottom corner on the break to give the visitors the lead five minutes later and the midfielder added the winner from a free-kick with six minutes remaining.

Dundee remain one point ahead of Queen's Park, who won 4-1 away to Arbroath, and two clear of Ayr with a game in hand after a seventh consecutive victory and a ninth without defeat.
