St Mirren have confirmed "a number of bids on the table" for Ethan Erhahon as Forest Green Rovers have an offer accepted for the 21-year-old and Hibernian's Jake Doyle-Hayes.

The potential transfers now depend on the midfielders agreeing terms with the English League One strugglers.

St Mirren assistant manager Diarmuid O'Carroll could not confirm the identity of those wanting Erhahon.

"I know there is firm interest from a number of clubs," he said.

"He deserves the interest that has come his way. From our point of view, he is a top talent."

Erhahon, who is contracted to St Mirren until May, came through the youth ranks in Paisley and has been a regular starter since having a loan spell with Barnsley's youth squad in 2020.

Asked if he thought the Scotland Under-21 cap would be sold during January, O'Carroll said: "There is nothing set in stone at the minute - you can see that by the fact he is playing for us.

"From a selfish point of view, as a team, you want your best players to stay, but obviously we have to understand where we are in the pecking order, budget-wise.

"We are a club where if people get life-changing offers and the club deems it an acceptable price then unfortunately players will leave."

Erhahon was also linked with League One promotion hopefuls Portsmouth, but their manager Danny Cowley has ruled out that prospect.

Doyle-Hayes is a former team-mate of Erhahon's at St Mirren, having signed in November 2020 after leaving Cheltenham but moving on the following summer for Easter Road.

The 23-year-old Irishman is under contract with Hibs until summer 2025, but he has not featured since September.

Hibs are currently eighth in the Scottish Premiership, two points and three places behind St Mirren, while Forest Green lie 22nd in England's third tier, two points away from relegation safety.

Forest Green last month signed former Hibernian and Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch after he left Aberdeen.

"There is other interest as well," Hibs head coach Lee Johnson said of Doyle-Hayes on Friday.

"I genuinely don't know whether it will happen or not. When the club accept an offer it shows the finances are in a place that the club are happy with but, on the football front, I'm more than happy if Jake decides to stay here and not accept that. That's absolutely fine by me.

"I like Jake, I think he's a really good footballer. I think we've missed his qualities in certain games. He's a player I've always trusted and always had on the pitch, either from the start or from the bench."
