Queen's Park extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship despite being held by Raith Rovers.

On-loan Motherwell striker Connor Shields opened the scoring for the Spiders, only for William Akio to level after his initial penalty was saved.

With Dundee losing at Morton, it means Queen's now sit two points clear, albeit having played a game more.

Owen Coyle's side have won just once in their last five league games.

Raith creep into fifth spot in front of Partick Thistle, who play on Saturday.

The opening goal of the game came just six minutes into the second half. Dom Thomas fired in a cross from the right, and Shields controlled wonderfully with his right foot before turning and firing low into the net.

The equaliser came with 16 minutes left on the clock. Rovers defender Ryan Nolan was bundled to the ground inside the box by Jake Davidson.

Substitute Akio saw his spot kick saved by Calum Ferrie but the striker on loan from Ross County followed up with the rebound to draw level.

For Raith it is now 13 unbeaten for the Kirkcaldy side.
