Viktor Gyokeres took his tally for the season to 18 as Coventry City boosted their play-off bid with a thumping win at lowly Huddersfield Town.
Gyokeres gave the away side the lead when he latched on to Michal Helik's woefully under-hit backpass and clipped home a composed finish.
The Terriers responded well to falling behind and Scott High forced a decent save from Ben Wilson in the Sky Blues goal but Gustavo Hamer doubled the visitors' advantage with a firm shot after a quality pass by Fankaty Dabo.
It was game over just four minutes later when Hamer won possession and played Sweden international Gyokeres in on goal and showed his class once more before sub Tyler Walker rounded off a great away day with a last-minute tap-in.
Mark Robins' men are now just three points off the top six after a run of four wins in five. However, things look bleak for Town, who have conceded eight goals in their past two games and are now seven points adrift of safety after Cardiff's win against Bristol City earlier on Saturday.
The game had been fairly even up until Poland international Helik's terribly miscued pass back after 31 minutes that left Gyokeres to race in on goal for his first of the day.
Neil Warnock admitted he was "crazy" to come out of retirement and take over at the John Smith's Stadium for a second time in February and the second-half showing from his charges will have done nothing to dissuade him from that viewpoint.
His side simply could not cope with the attacking verve of the visitors and were perhaps lucky it was not even worse, as Gyokeres saw an effort cleared off the line as he looked to complete a hat-trick.
Town now face Bristol City on Tuesday in desperate need of a win to boost their survival hopes, while Coventry will look to continue their fine run of form when they host Hull City on Saturday.
Huddersfield boss Neil Warnock:
"I've never been in a situation as bad as this, if I'm honest.
"But it's better that I'm here. They'll listen to me and I don't think my lads will give up because I won't let them.
"There's pride at stake now. You've got your pride as a player and in the jersey and they've got to show that to the fans.
"We've got nothing to lose and we've got to ruffle a few feathers now."
Coventry boss Mark Robins:
(On Gyokeres) "He's phenomenal and there's still loads of learning for him as a 24-year-old. He's scored two and had an assist, so he's playing with lots of confidence.
"The first strike is a brilliant goal. It's an outstanding finish and you didn't really doubt him.
"Today's a really good win. We were a bit sloppy in the first half, but we upped it in the second.
"They all played their part in a really good win, and it gives us another three points on the road, which can only be a good thing."
