Dundee moved four points behind Championship leaders Queen's Park with a win over Ayr United at Dens Park.

Captain Ryan Sweeney headed the hosts into an early lead, but Dipo Akinyemi soon levelled, shooting in his 22nd goal of the season.

After the interval, Alex Jakubiak squeezed home a shot and Luke McCowan added a fine curling finish.

Ayr United, who were top in December, remain third but are now four points adrift of the Dark Blues.
