Newport County earned another point on the road in this goalless League Two encounter at Colchester United.
The hosts stay 21st, three points above the relegation zone while the visitors dropped a spot to 18th, but are nine points off the drop zone.
Will Evans had a late chance to win it for Newport, but the cross glanced harmlessly off his head, epitomising both sides' efforts in front of goal.
It was Newport's first game since chairman Gavin Foxall stepped down.
Foxall left his role due to ill health.
Newport boss Graham Coughlan:
"It's a plus point, it's a good point, it's a clean sheet. I would have liked to have won it - we had a couple of chances to win it at the end.
"I suppose given the first half an hour, the way we started wasn't great.
"I've got to take a little bit of responsibility for that because I've worked the lads real hard over the last 10 days. You could see we were rusty and a bit leggy and the pitch lent itself to a dead, damp squib of a game."
