Cove Rangers have been relegated from the Scottish Championship after losing 2-1 at home to Greenock Morton - but the win was not enough to earn the visitors a promotion play-off place.

Dougie Imrie's men miss out on goal difference, finishing 10 goals behind fourth-placed Partick Thistle.

Jack Baird's opener was cancelled out by Declan Glass, before Robbie Muirhead won it for the visitors.

It means an immediate return to League 1 for Cove.

Paul Hartley, Cove Rangers manager: "Disappointing night but I don't think this game tonight is the key factor in us going down, I think it's over the 36 games that we've not been good enough.

"As the manager coming in, take responsibility for the results, players have got to take responsibility.

"We need a new squad to be honest with you, it's not been good enough. Certain aspects I've not been happy with since I came in. Attitude and leadership need to be better, the age of the team needs to go down."
