Chris Long: Crewe Alexandra striker agrees new 12-month deal at League Two club

Crewe Alexandra striker Chris Long has signed a new one-year contract at the League Two club.
Long, 28, joined the Alex from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell almost two years ago and was out of contract this summer.
The former Everton player scored 10 goals in 32 league games in Crewe's relegation from League One in 2021-22.
His availability this term has been hampered by injury, with three goals coming from 10 appearances.
The Alex finished the campaign in 13th place in the League Two, 15 points clear of the relegation zone.
Long was one of seven players offered a new deal, with Dan Agyei, Lewis Billington, Tom Booth, Charlie Finney, Rod McDonald and Tariq Uwakwe also considering terms.
Meanwhile the club announced on Monday, external that Callum Ainley, David Amoo, Sean Lawton and Kelvin Mellor had been released, while Dave Richards and Billy Sass-Davies have been made available for transfer.
Captain Luke Offord has had an extension clause in his contract triggered, while Bassala Sambou, who ended the season on loan at Oldham, is in discussions with the club about his future.
