Dundee 1-0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle: Hosts fall a goal short of Viaplay Cup last-16
- Published
Dundee fell a goal short of reaching the Viaplay Cup last 16 despite ending the group stage with victory at home to Inverness Caley Thistle.
Needing to win by two clear goals to usurp Raith Rovers as the third best runners-up, the hosts improved after the break and took the lead on the hour with a Zach Robinson header.
But Luke McCowan's shot inches past was the closest they came to a second.
Dundee, with the same goal difference as Raith, bow out on goals scored.
Tony Docherty's men are the second Premiership casualty of the group stage alongside St Johnstone.
Inverness, who were already out of the running for the last 16, had been the better side for long spells and threatened through Billy Mckay and Austin Samuels.
