Ian Henderson netted a second-half winner as Rochdale picked up their first win of the season at Oxford City.
A goalless first half was not without a few chances as Henderson had an effort cleared off the line, midway through the half.
Chances continued to come, but neither side were able to make a breakthrough as Kairo Mitchell headed a free-kick from Adam Clayton towards goal, but it was not enough to break the deadlock.
The Dale eventually opened the scoring after 71 minutes through crowd favourite Henderson, who slotted the ball home from six yards to score in his 10th season and second spell for the club.
